A Greek Construction joint venture Company was dedicated to construct all the facilities and the ASPROFOS SA
was responsible for the design and supervision of the project.
The 10-inch diameter pipeline, with a capacity of 300 m³ of jet fuel per hour, connects the Hellenic Petroleum refinery
with the Athens International Airport storage and distribution facilities, crossing a 53-kilometres distance, mainly via
Attiki Odos highway.
With a total construction cost of 23 million Euro, (25% shareholders’ equity capital,40% bank loan and 35%
financed through the Third Community Support Framework),the operation of the External Jet Fuel Pipeline is
beneficial for the area, the industry and the regional development:
∙ It is an environmentally friendly infrastructure
∙ It contributes to public safety
∙ It guarantees uninterrupted jet fuel supply to the airport
∙ It offers a competitive alternate solution, available to all users, reducing jet fuel transporttation costs
from the refinery facility to the airport by 30%
∙ It promotes sustainable growth within the European Union
"Athens Airport Jet Fuel Pipeline Company S.A." will be the operator of the pipeline for a concession period
extending up to 2026, by which time both the fuel pipeline and Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos"
will be handed over to the Greek State.
